KENZO Fall-Winter 2013 “Cloudbusting”

KENZO release a short and sweet film for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2013 collection entitled “Cloudbusting”. Directed by the duo Partel Oliva the film was named after the collections’s key prints, the Day Clouds and the Night Clouds, featuring a soundtrack contributed by Mykki Blanco. The creative interpretation of the KENZO men’s and women’s collection is an abstract tale, taking place in a fantastic and post-romantic universe. Stunt riders seem like astronauts on motorbikes creating colorful clouds of dust while polishing off almost impossible moves.

SWEATSHOPPE Video Painting Europe

New media art duo SWEATSHOPPE aka Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy are back from Europe with a new video that showcases their live interactive video wheatpaste in Berlin, Bristol, Belgrade, London and Paris. Over a two week period the duo pasted their videos in over 10 spots including the Berlin Wall, Les Invalides, Cordy House and even constructed a 5 meter telescopic electronic paint roller to create a two-story tall video painting in Bristol.
Video painting is a technology the duo developed that allows them to create the illusion that they are painting videos onto walls with electronic paint rollers they built. It works through custom software that they wrote that tracks the position of the paint rollers and projects video wherever they choose to paint, allowing them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture and create live video collages in real time.

This incredible video is a LEGO rendition of the movie ‘Inception’. It was impressively produced by a group of British students as part of an academic team project, spanning over 12 weeks, representing approx 1000 hours of work. If this was turned into a full length production, it could possibly be the best LEGO movie yet…

Kanye West’s Seven-Screen “Cruel Summer” Pyramid by OMA

For the debut of Kanye West‘s Cruel Summer at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, OMA was commissioned to create a special pyramid-shaped pavilion to house the seven-screen experience. Designed in collaboration with DONDA, the pavilion seats 200 and is located along Palm Beach with a panoramic backdrop of Cannes and the Mediterranean. Immersing the audience in a space defined by the seven cinematic screens and constructed of steel, the pavilion served as the home to Cruel Summer for both its star-studded premiere and public showings.
